My story: The start of a Filipino dream
Welcome to my story, the place where my adventure began! Here I will take you through the very first steps of my emigration from the Netherlands to the Philippines. From the intensive research to the careful collection of the many documents: this is where the foundation was laid for my new life. It's a journey I'd love to share with my family and friends, and I'm glad you're here to follow the build-up of my dream. On the picture below my friend and me sign the rent contract for the house.
The preparation: A deep dive into the possibilities
Before I took the big step of emigrating to Oton, Iloilo in the Philippines, there was a huge mountain of research ahead of me. I had to figure out everything from the specific visa requirements for long-term residence to local laws and customs. What about the cost of living? Every detail has been carefully selected to ensure the smoothest possible transition. This preparatory work has been essential to the realization of my dream.
Documentation: The puzzle pieces of my future
Collecting and processing all the necessary documents was a challenge in itself. Birth certificates, financial statements, proof of income, medical certificates and much more had to be applied for, legalized and sometimes translated. It has been an intensive and precise process, in which patience was a good thing. But every stamped paper and every signature brought me one step closer to my new home in the Philippines.

After sixteen years of holidays in the beautiful Philippines, from the beautiful underwater world to the warm culture, it is now time to take the plunge. All the research and mountains of paperwork have been an investment in this life-changing decision. I want to show you, my family and friends, how I'm going to live and enjoy this, and how my long-standing dream finally comes true. It's more than just emigrating; it's a new chapter full of adventure and happiness.
