Visiting and moddeling around

Today I took a scooter ride and visited a small village or also called a barancay here in the Philippines (A barangay is the smallest local government unit in the Philippines). It is similar to a village, neighborhood, or district. Every city and municipality is divided into one or more barangays) on the way back stopped in St Rita and had a delicious meal (Sotanghon quisado) in the only small restaurant that St Rita knows.

The tail off typhoon Inday

Yesterday early evening it started to rain heavily, and we got a tail from typhoon Inday who was on his way to Taiwan and Iloilo passed north, but not too little rain fell, with the result that low-lying parts of Oton were flooded, including the restaurant of my ate Karen. Of course I also went to see my house but there was nothing wrong there.

Flying back to iloilo

Visiting Oton market

Today we went to the local market in Oton and you can buy anything. Especially if you are looking for fresh fish, fruit and vegetables at very reasonable prices compared to the local supermarkets. My good friend Inday also works there in a fruit stall so I visited her and was offered a delicious batchoy soup, a very well-known dish from the La Lapaz district of Iloilo. Read with me what is Batchoy, also a Filipino noodle soup with pig intestines, crushed pork swore, chicken broth, beef-loin and round noodles. The original and most popular variant, La Paz batchoy, originated in the La Paz district of Iloilo City, Philippines.

Shopping for tools

Today I went to Iloili City to buy all my new tools to my surprise they also have the Stanley brand here in the Philippines it is a good brand so I went for this I could buy the vacuum cleaner from the same brand myself I found it funny when the house is ready I still have some work to do myself so good tools are never gone the prices here are huge with the Netherlands so I bought anything and everything.

Kape the Palma

Today we went swimming with friends in the beautiful resort of Kape the Palma located in St Rita, a small town about 5 kilometers from my cottage in Oton. The owner of the resort also grows palm trees, maybe I can score a few for my garden through him.

My neighbours invite me over

Today I was invited by my dear neighbors in Immaculate village for lunch and what a delicious grilled teat pig (also called lechon) and about delicious other dishes. All this to celebrate that my neighbor Kyle had passed her exam.

Earthquake Mindanao

This morning 7:30 a.m. local time there was an earthquake in the province of Mindanao, an island that is a bit southerly compared to the island of Iloilo where I now live. I didn't notice anything myself, but I got messages from family and friends. I can tell you that everything is going well with me, so don't worry.
